I can really relate to all of this. I grew up with a lot of these bands. Fortunately I never fell to deep in to their trap.
You see I am a musician myself, and I’ve played in various bands that even played some of the songs on this site. I was even turned off by other Christians preaching the fire and brimstone. However, when I moved out to Califormia my life changed.
I moved to the Bay area to check out the music scene, but happened to come across a church that was offering a course about Christianity. My Wife encouraged me to take it with her.
That was 2 years ago and now my life belongs to Jesus Christ.
Please understand that I love music and still play it, but since becoming a Christian, my ears hear it in a different way and I just can't listen to it the same way anymore. I will admit that I'm going through some withdraw and it's a struggle. I just can't think to myself that just because I didn't fall too deep into Satan's trap that someone else won't as well. I'm not the ultimate test.
I have a nephew who is into Marlyn Manson and proclaims to be a satanist, and this disturbs me because if he continues this, I know his fate. I know that the fire and brimstone talk is hard to handle, but those who die in their sins will be judged and be eternally separated from God. Those who believe in Jesus will be saved, and remember a Christian is only a sinner saved by the Grace of God. The only difference between A Christian and anyone else is that the Christian is saved.
I now listen to a lot of Christian music and play songs that glorify God. There is a lot of good contemporary Christian music out there such as dcTalk and Third Day just to name a few. I have posted a URL to the site of the course I took. Please visit it if you want to find a church in your area that hosts it. I pray you do.
