I am a homosexual, yet I believe in god, Christianity...

Nic,
Below is your email in italics along with my response in blue...

Dear Good Fight, I am a homosexual, yet I believe in god, Christianity, the scriptures and his word. Although I am a homosexual, I believe that god can find it in his forgiving love to accept me.

Please reply as soon as possible. I only wish to follow god and his word.

Faithfully,
Nic

FTGF RESPONSE:
Nic,

Please know, that I am not one of those individuals/Christians that sneer at homosexuals, rather my heart-set is one of concern. You say you believe in God, Christianity the scriptures and His word, which in reality places you in a tough position.

God can and will forgive us for sin however; God's forgiveness is contingent upon our repentance. Repentance, as you may know, is not simply a belief in God, Christ, the scriptures, etc. - it is a change of heart - a change of mind - which causes us to willfully turn from sin.

We both agree that God's word classifies homosexuality as sin, correct? If so, we can't dismiss the scriptures and believe that God will not hold true to His word (1 Corinthians 6-9-10). To believe that God will "find it in His forgiving love to accept you" - is in reality like saying, God will find it in His forgiving love to accept serial murderers, child molesters, liars, etc etc.... And if this were the case, God's word, the bible, would be useless, as it clearly teaches otherwise.

God does forgive and accept us when we repent, turn from our sin. The beautiful promise of this, which specifically addresses homosexuality, can be found in 1 Corinthians 6:11!! After the apostle Paul states that homosexuals, drunkards, liars, etc will not inherit the kingdom of God, he addresses those receiving his letter in verse 11 as individuals whom once practiced the aforementioned! This clearly teaches that Paul was writing to individuals that were formerly homosexuals, drunkards, etc but have since repented, turned from those sins and are no longer practicing sin.

Nic, you need to realize a few things...

- Homosexuality is sin that cannot be justified before God without repentance

- You must repent and turn from this lifestyle in order to be forgiven and accepted by God

- 1 Cor 6:11 demonstrates to us that a person can in fact willfully turn from homosexuality and be sanctified and justified by turning from your sin.

Nic, I say all these things in truth and love. I don't personally know you, however, I do care for you and the best way I see to help you is to share God's word with you.

I look forward to hearing from you again.
