Gay Marriage in Bible Prophecy
California is flaming in more ways than one! Some California residents thought is was interesting timing that immediately after the California supreme court overthrew the will of the people, who a few years earlier had voted to define marriage as an exclusive union between one man and one women by a majority vote of 61%, a bizarre and lethal tornado hit California. For those who don’t know, California is not tornado territory, at least it wasn’t before the ruling! San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, a staunch proponent of gay marriage, says the court’s decision will spark a nationwide trend. "As California goes, so goes the rest of the nation. It’s inevitable," he said. "This door is wide open now. It’s going to happen whether you like it or not. This is the future, and it’s now."
A couple of weeks after the California Supreme Court decision, the state began marrying same sex couples, many wondered what might befall the state next…and just a few days later, California was bombarded and burnt by nearly a thousand different fires that were determined to be "unprecedented" in the states history. Almost every one of these fires was ignited by fierce dry lightning strikes causing fires that are still burning and ravishing a state that is quite literally going up in flames.
On June 24, 2008, in an Associated Press article out of San Francisco (a place considered by many to be the gay capitol of the world), the following was reported:"SAN FRANCISCO – Fire crews joined aircraft from neighboring states Tuesday to battle hundreds of lightning-caused wildfires across Northern California. One of the fires started by weekend thunderstorms had already blackened more than 10,000 acres – nearly 16 square miles – in a rural area of Lake County, about 120 miles north of San Francisco." Del Walters, assistant regional chief of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection declared that, "This is an unprecedented lightning storm in California, that it lasted as long as it did, 5,000 to 6,000 lightning strikes. We are finding fires all the time." Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said he was told late Sunday evening that the state had 520 fires, and he found it "quite shocking" that by Monday morning the number had risen to more than 700. Moments later, a top state fire official standing at Schwarzenegger’s side offered a grim update. According to Del Walters, the figure was actually 842 fires. Schwarzenegger said he had enlisted the help of states Nevada and Oregon, "because you can never prepare for 500 or 700 or 800 fires all at the same time." A couple of days later well over a thousand fires were burning. While Walters said, "It wasn’t predicted" and that "there’s no history of the weather as it approaches the shore – and so we got hammered," those who know God and His prophetic Word know that He rules in the affairs of men and that He will not stand by idly as marriage is redefined, the family is destroyed, and His name is mocked.

While we cannot say the "unprecedented" firestorms are unquestionably and absolutely a judgment from God, when we look at the timing of the fires and the bizarre nature in which they were ignited (we have never seen anything even close to over a thousand fires started by dry lightning strikes in California, without any rain to put them out), the thinking person has to really wonder! Add to this the fact that we have a record of how God deals with flagrant sin historically, as well as the fact that the prophetic scriptures warn that the world will become increasingly darker and God’s wrath will increase and then it becomes an even greater concern!
Some have wondered why God would just not wipe out place like San Francisco altogether, but the truth is that God didn’t even wipe out Sodom until He first rescued Lot and his family. On the other hand, God’s wrath if revealed from heaven in the world today (Romans 1:18-32) in such a way that it is selective and meant to warn the lost to turn from their sinful rebellion before it is too late and they receive the full measure of wrath they deserve. Certainly, God who is perfectly holy and righteous, knows in His infinite wisdom and power, how to judge both selectively and righteously:
"Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; your judgments are like a great deep O LORD, You preserve man and beast" (Proverbs 36:6)
"The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the LORD are true; they are righteous altogether" (Proverbs 19:9)
God has revealed that He is not willing that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9) and that He has no pleasure in the death of the wicked (Ezekiel 33:11) but rather desires that all would be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth (2 Timothy 2:4-6)! This desire applies to those who are lost in San Francisco as much as it does in any other city (Romans 10:12-13). One of the reasons God’s judgments are in the earth is so that those who are in rebellion to Him may have a wakeup call before it is too late and have opportunity to repent and experience His mercy before they end up spending eternity in hell. God reveals that His judgments are often corrective and remedial so that the lost may learn righteousness:
"For when Your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness" (Proverbs 26:9b)
Sadly, we learn in the Revelation of Jesus Christ, that as God’s judgments increase, even though some will turn to give God glory (Revelation 11:13) still most people will refuse to repent until it is too late (Revelation 9:19-21; 16:8; 20:11-15).
One of the sins for which God rained down fire and brimstone upon the ancient cities of Sodom and Gomorrah was homosexuality. We read in the Genesis account that the men of the city, "young and old" had surrounded righteous Lot ‘s house and desired to have sex with the angelic visitors who came in the appearance of men (Genesis 18 & 19). We know this account to be true not only because we are dealing with the Word of God, which should be enough, but due to the archeological evidence that these cities were destroyed with fire and the fact that God, Himself, declares that they were destroyed because of their perverse sexual sin. We read in the book of Jude, the half brother of Jesus Christ, that their destruction serves as an eternal reminder as to how God deals with those who reject Him and choose to engage in sexual sin:
"…Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire." (Jude 7)
Sadly, despite God’s chilling and sobering warnings as well as and the revelations from social science that reveal that nearly every nation that fully embraced homosexuality was destroyed, we continue to ignore the lessons of history. The same week that California began marrying same sex couples the nation of Norway legalized gay marriage. It has been said that those who do not learn from history are destined to repeat it. What is taking place before our very eyes today with the redefinition of marriage is exactly what Jesus Christ prophesied would take place just prior to His Second Coming. Jesus forewarned us that the world would become like it was in "the days of Lot" in Sodom:
"It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed. On that day no one who is on the roof of his house, with his goods inside, should go down to get them. Likewise, no one in the field should go back for anything. Remember Lot’s wife! Whoever tries to keep his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left."Where, Lord?" they asked. He replied, "Where there is a dead body, there the vultures will gather." (Luke 17:28-37)
Jesus Christ revealed in the book of Revelation, where we read about a series of horrific seal, trumpet and bowl judgments that take place just prior to His return, that God’s judgment will come in part due to sexual sin (Revelation 9:19-21) and that even the Holy City will become like Sodom and Egypt (Revelation 11:8).
While some will confuse temptation to commit adultery, have sex with others of the same sex, have sex with children (pedophilia), or animals (bestiality), to be their natural orientation; the truth is that as humans, we are born with a corrupt and sinful nature as a result of man’s original rebellion against God and we are all subject to temptation. God calls us to obedience to His Word regarding monogamous heterosexual marriage as He originally intended. As the Creator of the universe as well as marriage, God made humans in His image, male and female (Genesis 1 & 2) and Jesus Christ Himself confirmed and defined God’s original intention for marriage as consisting of a one man and one women relationship for life (Matthew 19:1-9). Not only did God create male and females to be compatible sexually which science and the studies of the human anatomy eloquently attest; but, it is only through the union of male and female that the human race is propagated.
The Lord God declares emphatically in His Word that judgment will come upon those who refuse to honor His divine plan in marriage:
"Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral." (Hebrews 13:4)
God has placed protective barriers around the institution of marriage for the same reason traffic controllers place speed limits and guard rails on hairpin turns along steep cliffs on canyon roads. God is not some kind of cosmic killjoy. He is a loving God who intended the gift of sex to be experienced between one man and one woman in a blessed marriage relationship. He also lovingly warns us against the perils of adultery, fornication, bestiality, homosexuality, pedophilia, and other sexually deviant practices because he doesn’t want our lives running off course and crashing on the jagged rocks below. A fireplace can be beautiful, warm, and even romantic…however, if you take away the barriers that keep it safe and beautiful, before you know it, the once warm and romantic fire becomes a destructive and deadly force of flames that crawl up your walls, burns your bed, and destroys your home. When we discard the sexual boundaries that God has given us, we essentially burn our lives and the lives of those we claim to love.
While some Christians have hypocritically condemned homosexuality as the only sin God detests, the truth of the matter is that the verse quoted above condemns all types of sexual immorality; specifically, adultery. Sadly, I believe that many professing Christians who condemn homosexuality are personally engaging in adultery or pornography themselves. As a result, they are in huge trouble with God because they are not only guilty of sexual sin; but, they are behaving hypocritically as well. We do indeed need to call sin what it is, sin! But, Jesus warned us that before we remove the speck from someone else’s eye we must first remove the beam before our own eyes (Matthew 7:1-3). Yet, if one has removed such beams from their own eyes and yet refuses to warn others about sexual sin in an effort to be politically correct, such a person is in fact living in an unloving and calloused manner toward one’s neighbor. Would you deem a person who refused to warn his neighbor that he or she was racing toward a hairpin turn overlooking a high cliff and who was oblivious to their tragic death a loving person??
We know that those who engage in adultery bring ruin to their families and their own lives. Most are also aware that those who engage in homosexual relationships cut their lifespans nearly in half of what it should be. A study of 6,714 obituaries from sixteen United States homosexual journals conducted by Paul Cameron and his colleagues in 1993, found that the mortality rate of homosexual men dying of AIDS to be 39 years of age and gays not dying of AIDS to be only three years longer at 42. Tragically, the study found that gays die:
- 10 times more often in accidents
- 17 times more frequently in traffic
- 26 times more often from suicide
- 87 times more from murder
- 23 times more often from heart attacks (compared to white men aged 25-44)
The median age of death among lesbians is not much better and was reported to be 45 years-of-age. Even if we choose to ignore this study and go with the more conservative figures of The International Journal of Epidemiology, we find there is not much of a difference. The journal reported that those who engage in homosexual behavior before the age of 20 can expect to have their mortality rate reduced by as much as 30 years. The tragic and alarming early death syndrome that we find among those who choose to live a homosexual lifestyle is not due exclusively to a plethora of STD’s as the data cited above indicates. The American College of Pediatricians cites studies that have found that, "Violence among homosexual partners is two to three times more common than among married heterosexual couples." Homosexual couples have by far and away the highest rate of domestic violence in the nation with the most brutal occurring among lesbians.
Domestic violence among traditional married couples occurs at less than 5% each year. However, domestic violence occurs disproportionately at an alarming rate of 50% among lesbian relationships. Susan Holt, coordinator of the domestic violence unit of the Los Angeles Gay Lesbian Center, lamented that "domestic violence is the third largest health problem facing the gay and lesbian community today and trails only behind AIDS and substance abuse… in terms of sheer numbers and lethality." (Holt, S., "Ending the cycle of domestic violence," Gay Lesbian Times, 9126196, p. 39)
The facts bear out powerful testimony to the truth of Holy Scripture and that marriage is to be experienced within the loving boundaries of one husband and one wife. While traditional, biblically based marriages have proven to have the lowest rate of domestic violence they also prove to provide improved health, prolonging life and are the best context in which to raise children.
The Surgeon General warns smokers on every pack of cigarettes about the health hazards of smoking; yet, are we so callous as to not warn those we claim to love about the tragic cost of sexual sin?? Add to this the far graver fact that those who engage in sexual sin, whether it be heterosexual adultery or homosexuality, that they are warned emphatically by the Lord that they will not inherit the kingdom of God:
"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)
God’s Word warns repeatedly that those who engage in sexual sin will be subjected to horrifying diseases for rebelling against the Holy institution of marriage and His plan for the family:
"God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral." (Hebrews 13:4b)
"It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality…. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit." (1 Thessalonians 4:3, 6b-8)
Since God is good and righteous, He has moral laws that reflect His holy nature. When we rebel against these laws, we reap the appropriate consequences. We should not dare in our limited brain capacity to tell God who created the universe and gave us life, how He should rule in the affairs of men. If God did not have moral laws and if there weren’t consequences to those laws, humanity would destroy itself in a matter of days. Just think what would happen to the world if every criminal was let out of prison and told he could do whatever he pleased without any consequence or punishment for his crimes. The Holy Scriptures teach that those who sin sexually, actually sin against their own bodies and destroy themselves:
"But a man who commits adultery lacks judgment; whoever does so destroys himself." (Proverbs 6:32)
"Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body" (1 Corinthians 6:18-20).
Sadly, today, the liberal media and the government schools have led millions of youth into a dangerous sexual frenzy and we are now facing a colossal and unprecedented epidemic of sexually transmitted diseases that is rapidly spreading among our children. To make matters worse, the media has largely failed to report on the epidemic for obvious reasons and it has been swept under the carpet. As tragic as it is incredible, the U.S. Center for Disease Control is reporting in a study released March 11, 2008, that at a minimum, one in every four girls between the ages of 14 and 19 nationwide are infected with a STD! Since statistics show that about half of teen girls claim to be engaging in premarital sex, this means that nearly half of those who are sexually active have been infected by at least one STD. Don Buckley, a family physician in Pensacola, Fla., said the study "confirms the tragic stories that we in primary care hear virtually every day." Buckley further stated, "There is no fool-proof safe sex practice outside of a monogamous marital relationship."
Recently, the CDC reported that a staggering 3.2 million of our youth suffer from at least one STD. Things are even more heartbreaking when we realize that half a million of these girls have two or more sexually transmitted diseases. Add to this the fact that every single day, 10,000 more young people contract a sexually transmitted disease and are added to this list, joining nearly 20 million nation wide in the general population. While one would think that such a terrifying and destructive epidemic would cause media outlets to sound the alarm and parents would be put on a red alert to instruct their children in chaste behavior, we dare not hold our breath and wait for the world to assume the responsibility that God has entrusted first and foremost to parents. While the liberal media continues to cheapen sex, and disconnect it from marriage and morals, the media is continuing its assault on the family and is undermining the last vestiges of our moral foundation and eroding what is left of our vanishing national conscience. As parents, we need to be more vigilant in training our children in the Lord now, more than ever before!
STD’s present a host of tragic consequences for the multiple millions who contract them. Beyond the fact that they are typically horrible to live with, that they spread to millions of others, and that they greatly reduce pleasure in future sexual experience; they also cause other serious conditions and diseases that bring still more horrific consequences. For instance, chlamydia infection gives a women a 25 percent chance of infertility. Herpes can cause a host of problems including blindness in babies during delivery. HPV, which has been contracted by 18 percent of teenage girls, often causes cervical cancer. Syphilis can lead to insanity and death. HIV and AIDS often lead to a myriad of other maladies and death. And sadly, this is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg!
Valerie Huber, executive director of the National Abstinence Education Association, said, "Teens are erroneously taught that a condom makes sex safe," Huber said. "When we learn that one in four teen girls is infected with a sexually transmitted disease, it becomes clear that the contraception-based approach taught in 75 percent of U.S. schools is failing young people."
"The CDC study shows that the sexual health of teens should be paramount. The risk-avoidance message of abstinence education should be the top public health priority in response to this new information." Huber added.
Many young people buy into the lie that condoms translate into safe sex and are led to believe they are impervious to contracting sexually transmitted diseases. Nothing could be further from the truth! Condoms have a whopping 25 percent failure rate for preventing pregnancy which is what they are designed to do. It should not surprise us then, that they would have a terrible failure rate when it comes to preventing many STD’s. The Food and Drug Administration has stated that while condoms afford some protection with some STD’s, they are less effective against STD’s like herpes, syphilis, and HPV. In 2001, the CDC reported that condoms, even when used "correctly and consistently" reduce the risk of contracting HIV by only 85 percent. Feeling safe while engaging in promiscuous sexual practices with a condom is like taking a fully loaded revolver and removing half of the bullets and playing Russian roulette! Sadly, just like Russian roulette, such behavior can often have deadly consequences.
Our tax dollars are used to fund bankrupt ‘Kinseyan style’ sexual education programs that throw gas on the already raging fire by encouraging our children to be sexually active and proceed to spend a mind boggling $15.5 billion more each year to try to calm the flames by treating the STD’s that we have largely caused in the first place!
While the government schools have largely divorced morality from sexual education and encouraged promiscuity among our youth, incredibly, Senator Barrack Obama, has stated that he would like to see ‘sex-ed’ taught to our five-year-olds in kindergarten. Jocelyn Elders, the former Surgeon General under the Clinton Administration, has come out supporting his comments and sought to ease the concerns of outraged parents. If Jocelyn Elders’ past undertakings give us any indication as to just how ugly this may get, you should know that she attempted to release ‘sex-ed curriculum’ for five-year-olds in the past that contained cartoons of naked children running around touching their genitals with inanimate objects. With the escalating rash of teachers sexually abusing children in our government schools, do we really want them talking intimately to our five-year-olds about their genitals and sex?? Sadly, it appears more and more, as though the inmates are running the asylum!
We have already observed that our Creator God reveals that sexual sin leads to judgment and tragic consequences. God warned the ancient nation of Israel that if they obeyed His commandments and statutes they would avoid the diseases of the pagan nations around them (Exodus 15:26). Such commands included clear and unmistakable prohibitions against both adultery and homosexuality. God forbade adultery within the Ten Commandments and repeatedly warned against the sin of homosexuality:
"Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin." (Leviticus 18:22)
In the New Testament, the apostle Paul not only warns that those who engage in adultery and homosexuality will not inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-10); but, further warned the Romans that sexual sin leads to self destruction and death:
"Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator-who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion..Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them." (Romans 1:24-27, 32)
Tragically, the Roman Empire was decimated from within due to sexual sin and the United States and the West are now facing sexually transmitted diseases at an epidemic rate. Before the sexual revolution of the 60’s, there were only a few documented sexually transmitted diseases. However, in the wake of the sexual revolution there are now scores of STD’s. In the 60’s, herpes and other STD’s came to the forefront and in the 70’s, when homosexuality was brought out of the closet and promoted in the liberal media, the result was the AIDS epidemic. The sexual revolution was slow in spreading to the urban areas throughout the continent of Africa; however, when it did, it spread like wild fire and the result, if not for abstinence based education based on the Bible, was the near eradication of an entire continent due to AIDS. Those who truly care about Africa and those engaging in sexual sin will not remain silent regarding the politically correct elephant that is in the room. We are destroying our nation, the world, and our own children because of our headlong plunge into sexual perversion. It is amazing that the bible is by far and away the most relevant book on earth.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have now revealed that the HIV rate in America is 25 percent higher than originally thought. The CDC estimates that there are currently 1.1 million people in the United States infected with HIV- with 50,000 new cases reported each year. While homosexual men comprise only two percent of the US population, the CDC reported that they accounted for 66 percent of new HIV cases.
Matt Foreman, the executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, told the organization national conference in February of 2008 that HIV is "a gay disease." Foreman stated:
"Folks, with 70 percent of the people in this country living with HIV being gay or bisexual, we cannot deny that HIV is a gay disease. We have to own that and face up to that." Foreman further acknowledged what many of us have known for decades: HIV and its companion disease AIDS is dramatically disproportionate among male homosexuals.
Those who are keeping those engaging in homosexual behavior and other destructive sexual practices in the dark about AID’s and what God has to say about sexual behavior are not doing them a favor; but are contributing to their destruction.
Sadly, San Francisco is not only being ravaged by AIDS and wild fires, but by other sexually transmitted diseases that much of the media is ignoring. On January 14, 2008, the San Francisco Chronicle ran the headline, "S.F. Gay Community an Epicenter for New Virulent Staph." MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus), a highly drug-resistant strain of staff infection, has moved outside hospitals and is now spreading among gay men. The San Francisco Chronicle reported that:
"A new variety of staph bacteria, highly resistant to antibiotics and possibly transmitted by sexual contact, is spreading among gay men in San Francisco, Boston, New York and Los Angeles, researchers reported Monday" (The San Francisco Chronicle, January 14, 2008)
"We probably had it here [in San Francisco] first, and now it is spreading elsewhere," said Binh An Diep, a researcher at San Francisco General Hospital and lead author of the report. Diep went on to announce that "This is a national problem, and San Francisco" long known as a staple for homosexual activity "is at the epicenter." (Ibid) The study found sexually active gay men in San Francisco are 13 times more likely to be infected with the deadly staff infection than the general population. The journal Annals of Internal Medicine found that the highest concentrations of the drug resistant bug known as MSRA is in San Francisco’s Castro district and among patients who visit health clinics that treat HIV infections in gay men in San Francisco and Boston.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported that, "What is unusual in this case is the high percentage of infections – up to 40 percent – occurring in the buttocks and genitalia.[and] the infections are found where skin-to-skin contact occurs during sexual activity." Despite these facts and that in San Francisco the "bug is 13 times greater for gay men than for the rest of the city’s population," the Chronicle reported that "researchers have stopped short of declaring this form of staph a sexually transmitted disease."
While some at first surmised that the reason homosexuals so easily contract MSRA is because many of them have the HIV virus, the Chronicle squashed this myth stating:
Staph Infection
"Just why the new, more drug-resistant variety is concentrated among gay men is not yet known. Patients infected with HIV appear to run a higher risk of infection, but the study suggests that gay men are being infected with the staph germ regardless of whether they are HIV-positive."
Even though it is obviously a sexually transmitted disease, the politically correct crowd in San Francisco is falling short of calling it a sexually transmitted disease and Dr. Chip Chambers, director of infectious diseases at San Francisco General Hospital is claiming "taking a shower after sexual contact may minimize contamination." While this may be true to a small extent, it is also true that by giving such advice they are encouraging more Russian roulette, which will end in countless deaths. Better guidance would be to simply warn against playing Russian roulette in the first place and clearly state that if one wants to escape dying of a potentially flesh eating disease one must abstain from homosexual practices. The one true God who invented sex has given us clear guidelines and beautiful boundaries for healthy and safe sex – all of which, are clearly stated in His word to be within the confines of a monogamous and heterosexual marriage! He has also given us repeated warnings to those who break the Law of love and engage in fornication, adultery, homosexual behavior, pedophilia and bestiality, will suffer severe consequences and eternal judgment.
Sadly, even though the apostle warned us that we are not to be deceived into believing that adulterers and homosexuals will inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-10), false teachers have emerged within the church who are seeking to twist the scriptures to make it seem as though God condones deviant sexual behavior. Such false teachers are not friends to those who engage in sexual perversion; but are instead, their worst enemy as they pat them on the back as they usher them into Hell. It is clear how the early church interpreted such passages, as the early church fathers understood these as condemnation of sexual sin, including homosexuality. The Didache, one of the most popular of the early church documents that summed up the teaching of the apostles of the early church and was read routinely throughout the churches of the second century, clearly states the position of the early church on this subject, "You shall not commit murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not commit homosexual acts, you shall not steal." (Didache 2:2a)
What’s a Parent to Do??
We cannot leave something as important to our children’s health and their future well being up to public health officials and the government schools when they have proven that their policies have been a colossal failure. The problem does not exclusively stem from the failure of government policies, health officials, sex education in the government schools, and the liberal media; all of which have targeted our children as objects of sexual exploitation and corporate consumerism.
Our children are plunged daily into an amoral cesspool provided by big media and pop culture who are more concerned with money and exhibitionism than the children they are exploiting and the families they are destroying because we allow it! They are fed a steady diet of sexual perversion through the Internet, TV, pop and rap music and popular movies, all because we stand by and fail to teach them right from wrong and keep them from such wicked, perverse, and destructive influences. We need to teach our children the difference between good and evil because we live in a time where ‘good is being called evil and evil is called good’ and they are understandably confused (Isaiah 5:20). We have failed to shield them from the lies in the liberal media, the government schools, and the culture of death! God have mercy on us and help us to rise up and be what you have called us to be! Our hearts should so break for our children to the extent that we are moved from a pathetic state of apathy to a point where we become proactive in leading them in the way of righteousness (2 Timothy 3:15-17).
Christian parents need to wake up to the fact that we are in a spiritual war zone and Satan is seeking to destroy the lives of our children and our families. We need to keep our children in the Word of God and constantly reveal to them how relevant God’s Word is to the times in which we are living and how it applies to their lives. We need to make sure we are not living hypocritical lives that betray our word so they can actively see us walking the talk! We need to love our children enough to spend quality time with them and teach them God’s Holy and living truth. We need to make them aware of the fact that they cannot put their trust in people or in the world; but, that they must fix their hope solely upon the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word. Finally, we must pray earnestly, day and night, for their spiritual well-being and safety.
However, amidst all this sad and bad news that we see throughout the world there is some really, really great news. Even though the Word of God states that we are all guilty of sin (Romans 6:23); the reason God became a man in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ was for the purpose of dying the death that we deserved because of our sin (Isaiah 53). Jesus was mocked, beaten, whipped, spit upon, and nailed to a cross to pay the death penalty we all deserve. Jesus said that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son to save all of those who believe in Him from perishing and bless them with the gift of eternal life.
Jesus warned repeatedly that if we refused to turn from our sin to follow him we would die in our sins and our souls would eternally perish (Luke 13:1-5). Jesus said that He came to save that which was lost (Luke 15). The incredible beauty of the Lord’s grace is that even if we have been involved in the most perverse of sin, the Lord promises us that if we come to Him He will forgive us (1 John 1:7-9) and not cast us away (John 6:37). The apostle Paul, immediately after he mentioned that God’s Holy law condemns homosexuality as well as a host of other sins (1 Timothy 1:8-11), referred to himself as the chief of sinners and declared that God saved him to show us that He would save anyone who was willing to turn to Christ (1 Tim 1:8-16).
The Good News of Jesus’ death on Paul’s behalf and His triumphant resurection over death and the grave is not only the fact that God saved Paul’s eternal soul from hell, but that God made Him a new person though the power of His Living Word and indwelling of His Holy Spirit. God promises you that He will do the same in your life if you turn to Him in repentant faith as your Lord and Savior:
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" (2 Corinthians 5:17)
We see that God is in the business of saving those bound to sexual sin including adultery and homosexuality. Right after the apostle Paul warned that fornicators, adulterers, effeminate, and homosexuals would not inherit the kingdom of God, He declared to those in the church at Corinth in the very next verse:
"And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)
I thank God even though feel I could rival the apostle Paul for the title "chief of sinners" based on my life before Christ, God in His incredible love, mercy and grace, drew me to Himself and His eternal kingdom. I am privileged to know several believers who were once lost in all kinds of sexual sin, including homosexuality, who are now saved and have beautiful healthy relationships with others. The evidence is found in every church that truly follows Christ and takes Him at His Word. While God will severely judge the unrepentant wicked, He stands now extending His nail pierced hands which speak of the death that He suffered to provide your salvation so He can eternally embrace you and make you and heir to His eternal kingdom. It doesn’t matter who you are how deep the filth of sin has stained your soul. The prescious blood of Christ will wash you white as snow for His blood cleanses from all confessed sin (1 John 1:7-9). Dear friend, how could you reasonably resist such great love and such a great gift and exchange it for a short and unsatisfying life that is excluded from God’s and His kingdom forever?
I leave you with Jesus’ wonderful invitation in the book of Revelation, who stands at the door of your heart ready to save you if you are only willing to turn from your sin to Him and open your heart and let Him in:
"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me." (Revelation 3:20)
While the world scene grows dimmer and grimmer by the moment with the second coming of Sodom, we need to reach out to those who are spiritually blind and lost in sexual sin as many of us once were. We also need to look up, for Jesus encouraged us to look to Him, and promised that He will return again to rescue us from this perverse and wicked world:
"But when you see these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near." (Luke 21:28)
Just as the Lord’s prophecies are coming to pass before our very eyes, so is His prophetic promise to rescue us before the destruction of the world. Just as the angels pulled Lot and His family out of Sodom before it was destroyed, so the Lord has promised that He will come with His Holy angels and deliver us before the ultimate fiery judgment to come (2 Thessalonians 1:7-11).
"But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with His promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness. So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with Him." (2 Peter 3:10-14)
